Who I am

I build production systems end-to-end — the kind that serve millions of users, move real money, and can't afford to go down. For the last five years that's meant designing and shipping the platforms that ingest, standardize, and expose sports odds data across Sportradar's US and European organizations.

Before that I led mobile and backend teams in Norway, shipped Android platform features at Samsung R&D, and published two mobile-security papers that picked up 150+ citations.

Right now I'm focused on what AI agents can and can't do for real software work. The writing on this site is a hobby — building systems is the actual job.

Sportradar.

Engineering lead · Distributed systems

Current · 5+ years

Global leader in sports data distribution. Data served to hundreds of millions of users daily.

  • Designed and built Magic Odds. Sportradar's core platform for ingesting, standardizing, and exposing odds data from bookmakers (DraftKings, FanDuel, MGM, William Hill, PointsBet). Took it from a Go PoC to a multi-service TypeScript/gRPC production system across six phases. Now processing millions of sport events per year.

  • Architected the next-gen Odds Comparison API. TypeScript and gRPC. Writer/Reader microservices, DynamoDB storage, cross-regional migration support.

  • Led AWS migration of 7 products. ~500 CloudFormation components moved from Kubernetes to ECS Fargate, Lambda, DynamoDB, and S3 — zero downtime. Built reusable Terraform modules.

  • Built internal tooling. React/TypeScript admin tools and a CLI for managing odds data, bookmaker mappings, and AWS sandbox ops. Materially cut cost and ops overhead.

  • Centralized CI/CD and observability. Across 50+ repos. Full stack on Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, with real-time Slack alerting.

  • Bridged two orgs. Sole engineer contributing across Sportradar Europe and US — bridged architectural, operational, and domain knowledge between regions.

  • Mentored 5+ engineers. Including onboarding senior and staff engineers. Led AI enablement workshops and technical knowledge-sharing sessions.

  • Recognition. 1× Outstanding Performance · 4× High Performance awards.
